Highlander for the Holidays

Highlander for the Holidays (Highlander, #8)Highlander for the Holidays by Janet Chapman

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A fun magical story.

I received this book as an ARC from Goodreads and enjoyed it immensely. This is the eighth in the Highlander series so I was worried I would be lost. I have this series on a TBR list however just have not started it. I was not lost at all. Although the story is about a large highland family from the past and present I was able to enjoy this story without all the backstory.

Jessie is a scared and scarred women who has selected Pine Creek as her healing place. The magical community helps her come to terms with a brutal attack that left her body scarred however she is determined to get her life back. She meets Ian MacKeage who has his own demons to get over as he decided if he will step into the life he is destine for. With the help of a long lost relative who is as mysterious as he is strange, Jessie and Ian find what they are looking for.

A wonderful romance. I will be reading the others.

Entwined

Entwined (Eternal Guardians, #2)Entwined by Elisabeth Naughton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Zander is very old and tired of outliving all the other Eternal Guardians. He had already found and lost his soul mate and the only enjoyment he gets out of life is fighting.

When he steps in for his "brother" to marry the King's daughter he is hailed a hero.

Callie is a powerful healer for the King and although Zander and her have a past she is determined to ignore it and just do her job.

Zander and Callie have wonderful chemistry and I love their story. They both have pasts to overcome and many misconceptions to get through. Also there are secrets yet to be revealed as they fight the enemy that is trying to destroy their world.

Great book and I am excited to read the next one.

Biker Babe in Black

Biker Babe in Black, Book One, The Chromes and Wheels GangBiker Babe in Black, Book One, The Chromes and Wheels Gang by Debra Kayn

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Margie is trying to live by her own means without her family taking care of her. She has had a streak of bad luck and has gone through several jobs on her road to independence. Remy is a man who can get whatever he wants but is tired of people always wanting him for his money and not for who he is. Unfortunately he seems to be the cause of Margie losing two of her most recent jobs. Remy finds her fascinating and wants to help her, so hires her for a housekeeper, what happens while she is living under his roof is a fun read.

Their story is a wonderful account of two opposites finding love, with the complications of family, past loves and prejudices.

Loved this story and I am looking forward to reading the next Chrome and Wheels book about Reefer.

Kindling The Moon

Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell, #1)Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Arcadia Bell is a bar owner with a big secret that is about to surface. Seven years ago her parents were accused of murdering three leaders of magical orders. So all three faked their deaths and went into hiding. They split up to be less noticeable and Arcadia forged a life for herself. Now her parents have been spotted and The Luxe Order (one of the more powerful orders) is trying to find them. Arcadia wants to help prove their innocence so goes about finding the demon that was known to be at the murders seven years ago.

A trusted friend directs her to a enigmatic man living with his son in a nearby town. Lon Butler is a famous photographer raising his son and collecting rare occult books. He also is an empath, something that is a little disturbing to Arcadia since she has things to hide and strong feelings for Lon.

Lon agrees to help do research to find the demon and as they embark on the search for the demon, the story takes you through several twists and turns with outcomes that surprise you.

Loved the characters in the story, Lon's son Jupe is wonderful and hope to see much more of him in future stories.

Loved this book, I believed in the characters, the relationships and the story. I am looking forward to the next in the series.

Vacation? Really?

So I am off work this week. Not that I want to be or that I would have picked this week but here I am...looking at at week off work.
It's called a Furlough - time off work without pay. Love the time off - hate the without pay. I get it, we are in horrible economic times and I am all for doing my part to help keep my job but sheesh, this is the third in three years. I am beginning to think about my vacation days with these 5 days included. I may miss them if we ever have a year without them.
I have so far been very productive in the first two days. Two closets cleaned and two golf lessons. #WIN.
I plan to shop tomorrow (not spend much) and maybe tackle another closet. Hmmmm. I do have another golf lesson on Thursday and hair appointment on Friday. Wait, I am in the negative now with all this spending and no money.
Well, I will enjoy my week off because I will eventually get to go back to work for pay unlike so many other people in this world.
Have a great week.

Sins of the Angels

Sins of the Angels (Grigori Legacy, #1)Sins of the Angels by Linda Poitevin

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Alexandra is a homicide detective that has a past she does not want to remember and a bloodline she does not know about. Trent (Aramael) is an angel that has been assigned to find his brother (again) and send him back to Limbo for crimes against humanity. Caim has escaped and is responsible for serial murders around the city. While hunting for his brother, Aramael must also be a guardian to Alex who is a Nephilim and not someone Aramael wants to protect.
Sparks fly as they team up reluctantly to find Caim before he kills more. Alex and Aramael do not like each other and although there is something unmentioned between them, they fight it.
Aramael has never heard of an angel being attracted to a Nephilim so goes to find out more information from Verchiel who is the one that sent him on this mission.
Something is not right in Aramael's world and while he is hunting for Caim a force is trying to start a war that would put humans in the middle and possible peril.
A great thrilling story with twists and turns that keep you turning the page. Alex and Aramael are full of angst and have ugly pasts that follow them throughout the book. The secondary characters are also interesting and hope to see them in the future. This book ends with the overall story continuing into the next book so I can't wait until it comes out.

Just Gotta Say

Just Gotta SayJust Gotta Say by Laura Kaye

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ever since Callie witnessed roommates Jack and Noah engaging in some hot sex she has been having some wonderful fantasies. She has lived with her roommates, Jack, Noah and Lucas for three years and even though she has always thought they were very sexy men, she never really thought about experiencing sex with all of them at the same time. Now that is all she can think about. So she makes a few purchases and decides to experiment while the three are out of the house.

When the Jack, Noah and Lucas come home early and find Callie, they decide to make her fantasy come true.

A fun and sexy short book that I enjoyed reading. Loved the interaction between all the characters, especially between Lucas and Callie. Dreams can come true.
